Weekend double in MO
Ok, so it was 4 day weekend, but here's the story.
Started off Sat morning with a little doe. No pics of her because as I was cleaning her my knife decided to override the locking mechanism and close on my index finger. Took 4 stiches to close at the Emergency room Sat night.
On to this morning - Started off rattling after sunrise and had a bruiser come in, but wouldn't commit to the last 20yds. Right at 11:00, I hear leaves rustling behind me and turn to see a doe running down the trail. She stopped right at the edge of the clearing and looked around before taking a couple jumps to the far side. I was already grabbing my bow and standing up because I knew what was coming. He wasn't too far behind as he stopped short of the clearing just as she had. I hooked on my release and waited for his next (last) steps. He took just a few more steps putting him broadside at 10 yds. I touched off the release and watched him jump and buck and run off into the woods right behind where the doe had gone. I watched him dissappear and heard a couple collisions with logs, then the final crash. He didn't go 50 yds.
