Default First bow kill...nice buck

After 3 years and 4 missed shots, on October 27 i harvested my first ever deer with a bow. It just so happened to be the biggest buck i have ever shot. Here's how it happened...

I got set up in my tree around 4 o'clock after school. I went by myself because none of my friends could go. I was sitting in a spot where i knew that a nice buck was hanging out because i had seen him the week before while squirrel hunting and on the previous saturday i had caught a glimpse of him.

I waited till about 4:35, and did two series of grunts. About two minutes later, i heard leaves crunching. I slowly stood up and grabbed my bow. I looked in the direction where the sound was coming from and saw a deer coming. Assuming it was the buck, i got ready and watched.

He came into full view, about 50 yards away and started thrashing on a tree and making a scrape. At this time i am getting really excited, but still keeping my composure. He kept coming directly at me and i saw that it was my buck, a nice 8 with a huge body and swollen neck. He had his hair all bristled up which ive never gotten to see first hand before. i drew my bow and waited for him to give me a shot.

He got to within about 12 or so yards from me and i stopped him. However he stopped with a tree covering his vitals. I let him start moving again and after a couple more steps, stopped him.
I released, sending my 100 grain muzzy right through his heart and a lung. He kicked up his back legs and started running. He went about 40 yards, started stumbling and finally fell, well within view.

I started fist pumping and shaking and ohhhh i was excited. I called my dad and my friends who all said they were gonna come help me drag out my buck.

i got down from the tree and waited for them and went over to my buck and took lots of pictures.

I can honestly say that it is the best feeling in the world to harvest a deer with a bow. Ive shot 2 smaller bucks and 2 does with a rifle and although its great, it doesnt even compare to how i felt after this one.
