Apology accepted.

Here are a few guide lines I choose to follow.

1) Never shoot at a deer quartering to you. No matter how close.
2) Shoot only deer that are broadside or slightly quartering away.
3) Keep shots under 20 yards.
4) Practice shooting the bow from more positions then the classic standing.
5) Keep your broadheads razor sharp.

These simple guide lines have crystalized because of mistakes I have made in the past 37 years of bowhunting. I still make mistakes once in a while but my mistakes are now the exception...not the rule.

Its all part of it...even those who gun hunt wound deer. I wounded a 150-160" 3 years ago that still gives me nightmares. The only thing that saved me was knowing that deer lived, I hit him square in the shoulder joint at a mere 8 yards away, and my arrow only went in 1 1/2 inches and fell out on the deer's 1st jump.

I think many of us have gotten frustrated early in our BH careers, especially those of us who are self taught, and felt the same way you did. You will get better and more successful as the seasons go by, and youll come to see how deadly archery tackle can be, if used correctly. Glad to hear youre not giving up

Well put. If you ever decide to throw your bow across the yard, don't. Throw your boot instead and ship me your bow! Haha!

That is me to a tee..I am completely self taught when it comes to bowhunting,nobody in my family ever bowhunted,or any of my friends,So when I bought my bow at bass pro,they had to teach me the basics of how to shoot it.Everything else I have learned from TV or hunting forums like this.

I think the best outcome of you "SEEING THE LIGHT" is that we hunters, as a collective group now have one more back on OUR side....division among hunters creates defeat in the halls of legislation. If we don’t agree with a form of hunting, we just don’t HUNT that way....but we should NEVER condemn a LEGAL form of hunting...it’s exactly what the anti-groups want us to do. DIVIDED we are CONQUERED….but….UNTIED we are UNDEFEATABLE! Glad you are in love with bow hunting...good luck and be safe.

Thats great! I wish you success!!! Even if you have another bad experience, dont give it up b/c it is just a numbers game.
