I decided not to hunt in the rain anymore after losing what would have been the biggest buck probably in my life. Its too risky to lose that buck of a life time. Im not saying dont go, but be very careful of your shot and make damned sure you do everything to recover that deer. We searched for 3 days for the one I lost...never did find him. Rumor has it someone hit him with their truck the day before gun season on the other side of the river from us...not sure if its true or not. never heard anything more...

In the areas we hunt, deer usually head for cover of the pines or in the tall grass fields tucked in around the creek. Rain is a good time to do some walking and take the hunt to them rather then sitting....it'll keep you warmer, too.
