X2. I am a professional teacher who deals with high school students with reading issues. It almost impossible to reach a student unless they know you respect them.

One of the good ones! One of the things I'm most thankful for is my kids are all good readers. Funny isn't it that I'd find some comfort in that, but I do.

I was at one time one of those kids. Married well!

I mean no malice....and even explained exactly what I meant. You can "choose" to be offended...or take what I meant at face value. That's your choice.

I don't know Jeff. I understand someone being ignorant versus being ignorant of brain surgery techniques and I may well be both but I sure enjoy hunting even if I use mechanicals which have never failed me. Some guys just want to get out there with a set-up that will do it's job. I know a lot of guys love the Rage and that is great mainly because it increases your confidence and thats worth every Doo Dad in the bow shop.

No issues, there. Good luck!

So what if someone makes up for not having a finely tuned bow by shooting mechanicals. If your arrows are sticking in the ground on the other side of the deer thats enough generally.

The problems arise when the level of NOT being in tune come into the equation. Fletchings will correct a LOT of ugly! And...an arrow not flying true WILL hit where your pin is....even if your arrow is sometimes severely out of tune (you can sight your bow w/ fletched arrows....and hide a lot).

I KNOW you have developed a lot more technical knowledge in 4 years of hunting than I have in close to 40 and I applaud that but that doesn't translate into hunting skills.

Who's talking about hunting skills? That's a helluva reach.

On a slightly differing note Jeff how do you know if your bow is properly tuned?

By going through the proper procedures. I start with bare shaft tuning....and that's fine for FP's. When I screw the BH's on....it's time to take the next step. I take the FP tipped arrows and paper tune them. I just did this last week.

If it's not BH's and FP's hitting the same POA what is it.

I assume you mean POI. And there's other ways to achieve tune, also. You could shoot BH's and FP's until you have them hitting together....if you know how to read where they're hitting (if not the same).

Do you shoot paper Jeff. I USED to when the Olympic archery shop up the street paper tuned everything!!

I do, now....lol. I used to think it was pointless. I've turned 180deg on that.

Can you/DO you "tune a traditional bow or are they a take it as you get it kind of thing.

I never understood the importance of the bow/arrow marriage until I started shooting a traditional bow. I was "ignorant" as to the importance. When you screw a large, fixed blade BH onto the business end, you see how important optimal tune is. It's MORE important with a trad bow. I'm not pushing anywhere near the energy you guys are. It HAS to be right.

For me Jeff not that it matters, I value your posts but your delivery has something to be desired. Denigration is usually not the best tool for teaching.

I denigrated no one.

I have to agree with you once again wise grasshopper!

I never called anyone "Ignorant".

My statement cited user error (i.e. shot placement for the equipment utilized) and ignorance (i.e. as to the proper tuning REQUIRED to push a head of this magnitude). An arrow that is not OPTIMALLY tuned to the bow (marriage between the two) is SEVERELY at a disadvantage when pushing such a large head. I was IGNORANT as to this fact. I thought "if it flies like my field points....I'm good". The problem was...although my FP's were hitting where my pin was....the arrow wasn't flying true. BAD......

So dont read anything into my statement......other than exactly what I said.

It's true.

Ive said it many times as well. I was too. I shot them b/c I preferred accuracy over anything else, and b/c of my tuning "ignorance"/laziness, I could not get a fbh to fly nearly as well as the rages.

Good news(for my buddy anyways).

So... I traded one of my close hunting/shooting buddies 3 of my 3 blade rages from last year. All had been through an animal, 2 had bent blades etc.

He traded me 2 mint 2 blades and 5 bucks. Were pals, so no big deal that i only got 2...

Anyways, This morning(opening morning in KY) He text me at 630 with a text that said "killed 2 deer". That lucky dog killed 2 does by 630am on opening morning lol! He said the holes "looked like tennisballs" . He was very pleased, as both of the heads have now been through 2 deer a piece. His setup was a 27.5" Rytera Alien X at 59#'s shooting a 385gr. arrow 273fps. 64#'s of KE.

Not really any relevance in that post lol, but I was excited for him, and my original purchase imo has been worth its money.
