Default Getting a bow for the wife.

Well, the wife wants to start archery hunting with me this year. I am looking to find her a bow that will be easy for her to shoot. I should say, a bow to help increase her shoulder strenght to start. Any suggestions on a inexspensive bow to get the wife started???

eddie; Try looking for a good deal price wise and quality wise. Here are just a few bows that I know women that shoot. And there are many more that Im sure others can recomend here for you.

Forge Lighting Strike
Parker Challenger

The next 2 are a proabably a little lower priced than the previous 2

PSE Nova S3
Browning Micro Adrenaline

The Forge Lighting Strike has a limb exchange program, which means the bow can grow with the archers desire to shoot increased poundage, on the 2 cam, but in my opinion they dont have the best customer service but it is a nice bow to shoot.

Well, Parker I am a big fan of the Parker Ultra lite 31 but I dont think I would recomend it for a beginner,Just my opinion.... I do know a couple of women that are new to archery that are shoooting the Challenger and really like them.

I E-bayed a lot for my wifes bow.

It took me 3 bows to find one that met what she needed.
I bought a Golden Eagle Evolution dual cam first, thinking she is strong and could pull 50# with the limbs backed off. WRONG!!! The bow was also too long ATA. NO sweat, I LOVE IT

Next a PSE Silverhawk. Paid $50. It is definitely a $50 bow and no more!!! Cheap POS. Says made in Taiwan right on it. Pure junk! Only thing good about it, she could draw it back without a hitch.

OK, 2 bows and no luck. I' m not going to get in a hurry to find her something. A month later I saw a bow on Ebay. Buck Tomcat, with dual Hatchet cams. Never heard of it.

I bid on it anyway, and won the auction. The bow arrived in sad shape. It was set at 35# and the limb bolts were so loose the limbs wobbled.

One of the limb bolts was stripped, and the cable guard bent and full of string wax.
I took the bow completely apart. fixed everything and redid the peep lower on the string and got the cams in time. set it at 43#

The ATA is short. This is essential for big chestwed women, so those puppies don' t get slapped and bruised.

This bow once setup and maintained, is on hell of a bow. It scoots that arrow pretty darn good. Fast for 26" draw at 43#

So the moral of the story... Women are hard to fit a bow too. Make sure the ATA length fits her. Make sure the draw length is a tad short. If she slaps her arm, it will take the fun out of it!!! Make sure she can draw it back comfortable and easy, without sky drawing. 40# seems to be the mark for a woman' s bow.

Cheap and weak are subjective. I just bought my wife her second bow and was very pleased with it.

The Bowtech Ladyhawk is built for smaller people (short draw length) and gives good performance. The wife was shooting an indoor league for practice and her score went up 50% after switching to the new bow.

It is a 40-50lb bow set at 45lb, has a big brace height (+7" ) and is very light (below 3 lbs).

At $479, it wasn' t cheap, but it is far better built than most " youth" bows that short women end up with.

I am 5' 2" and 110 Lbs and I shoot a 40-50 Mathews SQ2. My draw length is 24" and the SQ2 is the lightest, quietest, smoothest-shooting bow ever. I love it! Found a great deal on Ebay!
