FOOD PLOTS
Does anyone grow food plots on their hunting property???
I' m debating on growing some type of deer/turkey foor on my property......the problem is that I only own 11 acres and it' s all swamp and bush.
At the moment I have to trails running through the property from the south end to the north end and I have a small river that cuts through one corner of the property. What should I do?
Should I cut out some clearings and try growing small plots?
If so how big? What kind of food/seeds should I plant?

RE: FOOD PLOTS
Create several small plots or long narrow plots adjacent to heavy cover so the deer will feel more secure and are more likely to utilize the plots during daylight hours. Just fertilizing and liming existing vegetation/browse works well sometimes too. I do this on a management area I hunt that doesnt allow you to plant anything. I fertilized a two acre clear cut last year and the deer really picked up on it.
