Default nice little buck

I just got my deer back from the Taxidermist yesterday, so I will start with that.

I had him by my blind 2 years ago, but never got a shot, except with the camera.

last year I saw him a few times from the van but not by the blind. Here he is heading to the field I hunt.

last fall I had him come by the blind earily, but just took pictures. At that time I didn't realize he was the same buck. He came within 10 yds of the blind and I passed on him.
that was on a Wednesday.

After all the harassment from all the hunters at work because of passing on him the peer pressure got to me and I decided if I get another chance I would take him.

Friday evening Jon took me back to the blind and at sunset here he came. Where he was standing I had to lean way forward in the blind. I was using my 48" Elburg mite flatbow. When I shot I heard a loud crack and the deer took off and stopped at the edge of the field about 40 yds away and stared at me for a few minutes. He then headed into the woods and down the hill.

I wondered what happened and leaned over and pulled back. I though I might be hitting the hangar, but I was along way from it. I looked down and the bottom limb was right above the wheelchair rim. Thats what the crack was.

I was shooting down. I have a blind with a lift in it that Jon and Brad built for me.

about 5 minutes later I looked to the north and there he was standing at the edge of the woods looking at the blind. I knew I didn't hit him because he wasn't licking any wounds. You are looking north in this picture.

about 5 minutes later I could see Jon way across the field opening the gate to come and get me. Just then I saw a 150 class 10 heading to the blind followed by a booner 10 and "14 point" the one I shot at.

they stayed by the blind till Jon chased them off with the truck

Saturday Jon took me to the same blind. this time I had my 46" Rodney Wright Stalker Recurve.

Once I blow a shot with a bow that is it for that bow for the rest of the season.

Getting close to sunset and here he comes again. It was a 10 yd heart shot with a 2020 tipped with a Magnus 2.

I scored him at 165-1/2 net nontyp, 22"+ mass each side.

remember the night before when the arrow took off on me. Here is what it did to him. left antler at the base. The arrow was lying there, so I got the file out and resharpened it and shot him again the next night.

And here he is back from the taxidermist

here are a few does from last fall also.

with my Elburg Cherokee Mag flatbow
2020 with a Magnus 2

with my Pronghorn flatbow.
2020 with a Magnus 2

Thanks for sharing, great deer and a great story. I see that you've been a member of HNI for 6 years and you only have 11 posts, that needs to change. You have a nice setup there, and a couple of guys who help you with your needs. I think that it's totally awesome that you've found a way to overcome being in the wheelchair, and I'd like to hear more of your stories.
