I climb with a linemans belt, putting steps up as I go. Before I leave the ground I tie a rope to my belt loop and the other end to the stand. When I get where I want the stand to be, just grab the rope and pull up.
The linemans belt frees your hands. You'll be able to hang the stand in minutes once you are up there after a bit of practice. Hardest part is swinging the chain/belt around the tree, especially if the tree is big.

It has mainly to do with how used you are to climbing and how comfortable you are up in the air. I have worked construction for over 30 years and most days are spent off the ground.
I've watched guys half my age struggle to hang a stand I could hang in half the time.
To feel at ease with it my advice other than be Careful is:
Practice! Practice!! Practice!!!
