I need some help with Mathews q2 please
I took by bow to the shop tonight to have them crank up the poundage on my Mathews Q2. It was presumably set at 60lbs and I want to crank it up to 65lbs for awhile. He said he was going to crank it all the way and then back it off so he got the same twist on both which seemed reasonable. He could only get it to 62lbs and said that was it. I was shocked because the sticker and what I thought I was a 70lb bow. Is there some way for me to tell what poundage bow I have? The cam says SL2-B.5R if that helps. I appreciate a bunch any help.

Capt: You might want to ask over in the tech forum. Couple questions for ya first. Does the sticker say 70 lbs.? How many turns did he put on to bottom the limbs out? Have you recently had a new string installed? Have you checked your cam rotation?

Nub: The sticker does say 70lbs. I' d guess maybe 1full turn and a half. Actually it is getting pretty to needing a new string. Not sure how to check my cam rotation but I can look into that. Thanks.

I' d check the cam timing and the cable bushings. The bushings are on the top limb on either side of the idler wheel. They will wear out and start leaning diagonally and if real bad will split and lean severely.......either way you lose poundage. I have seen as much as 5 lbs just with bushings. Last time I had some replaced it was $ 5 . I had a friend with your problem on a MQ-32 and a couple twist of his cables and new bushings = 7 lbs . Hope that helps !!

As they say where I was raised, you guys are the " cat' s meow" . I can' t begin to thank you enough for the information. I went back to the bow shop and they adjusted the cam rotation and twisted the cable and I' m back to 69lbs. Thank you again for your help. What a great forum of helpful people.
