Someone asked me how important arrow FOC is for bow hunting. I think a well tuned accurate arrow is the most important thing. If you go with heavier heads, then you need a stiffer spined arrow, which tends to add weight. For bowhunting whitetails or other medium sized game, I have backed off of the FOC with my axis 400 arrows with good results. Accuracy at somewhat unknown distances out to 40 yds is the key to success. In general, a faster arrow is more forgiving of less than perfect range estimation. If you are shooting large animals or dangerous game, then heavy fixed blade heads are the way to go. Any thoughts?
