I forgot to take pics. Sorry.

They're nice. Uses a cam-lock system for the rope instead of a buckle. It's right on the front of the stick too, so it's right in front of you when you put it up.

The steps are in pairs too. (whereas the Lone Wolf has just one that goes to either side.) If that makes sense.

Are they going to give LW sticks a run for their $$ in your opinion Christine? Are they lightweight Aluminum?

Thanks!! I want to sit in one of those huntmore 360 chairs. I have been watching this product thanks to Tembry telling me about them. Did you sit in one? Review?

Ya.. I've sat in the Huntmore stool HCH.

Let's just say you could use it as an office chair.. it's THAT comfortable.

I'll be getting one.. I feel like I could hunt for many more hours with such comfort. And I love to hunt from the ground.. I do.

You could fall asleep in it.

The muddy sticks are a bit less costly than the LW sticks. They seemed to weigh about the same. (I didn't get the pics or specs because I thought I was going to make it back over to the booth when Todd was there, but I never got back over there)

I'll buy a set and compare the two.

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

My .02 on the huntmore chair. As far as I've seen, it's the best hunting chair out there. I think it's a bit too sturdy for what I'd like to see. (it weighs 9lbs.)

For me, the height adjustment works fine. For my boyfriend who's 6'3" it was still too short at the tallest setting.

It has great widefeet that adjust to uneven terrain and won't sink into the dirt. Swivels nicely and silently.

I'm thinking of getting one. They're not cheap tho.

Awesome!!! I hate my DB chair and I have felt for a long time the industry has needed a lightweight comfortable blind chair. Their website says they will be at the IA Deer Classic..I will get one there.

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

I'm proud to say that I'm the designer of the new Muddy Sticks. Now that the patent is pending, we can start showing them off. They are what I've always dreamed of in a climbing stick. Light-weight, no metal buckles, and two steps so you no-longer have to guess which side of the tree you want that last step to be on.

The specifications are as follows - 4 pack of sticks weigh 10 pounds and will be rated to 300 pounds. They will retail for $129.99 (4 sticks).

We've had TONS of good feedback on them. If they make me happy they will make everyone else happy too! I'm pretty anal about the details.

The cams are designed to allow us to use a rope-climbing grade climbing style rope that is rated to 3,800 pound break strength. It's a USA made rope - and will last for years in the field. The spring loaded cams allow for the rope to be placed between them, as soon as any weight is applied, it locks tight on the rope and it can't slip out. It is a pretty slick little set-up - and our patent will prevent anyone else from touching us.

The steps themselves have a geared section at the back of the steps to allow a hunter to pull both sides down at the same time, same when you fold them up for packing. The step design is also included in our patent, so no-one can touch that design either.

I'm also proud to be the guy who designed the Huntmore stool. It has a patented cast aluminum hub system that will prevent anyone from knocking us off on that design either. Just this morning I tested the chair in -18 degree temperatures - and it is dead silent even at that low of a temperatures.

The distance between the steps are 18". We opted to only offer the 2-step version because the shorter the distance between mounting brackets - the more secure they are when mounting to a tree. The longer sticks pull off the tree too easily, and we want these to be the safest on the market. Safety is the first priority, and they fit crazier trees better! I never climb straight trees it seems! he he he ....

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

With only two steps per section it doesn't seem that 4 sections would get you very high unless you spaced them way far apart. I'm short-leggedso it takes 4 LW sections (the longer, 3 step stick) to get me 16' give or take. The cam lock deal sure looks appealing though.

Also, do the brackets swivel like the lw's do?

Todd..Do you use climbing sticks and hangons...according to a NC bowhunter, hangons and climbing sticks are way to dangerous to use and a PITA according to him. Climbers are the answer so he told me on AT.

Todd will these sticks pack with a Lone Wolf Assault as well as the lone wolf sticks?

WKP Todd 01-15-2009 02:16 PM

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

No, the V-brackets don't rotate. This causes the bolts to loosen over time, and it also doesn't allow for the tightest possible fit on a tree. I've spent TONS of time testing this aspect of the design - and solid V-brackets are more solid on trees when loaded. They basically are so rock-solid once you put weight on them - they will stick to the tree even when you take the rope off.

They will stack on a Muddy stand, a LW stand, and any stand with a 1-1/4" tube. They will also be packable in two different ways on the Muddy stand. One laying on the side (so they pack lower to the stand), and also like the LW's pack.

Another major advantage of our sticks is that they have a small loop extruded into the V-bracket that will actually attach to a Muddy harness so you can pack a stick on each side of your waist. You will only need to go up the tree once even if you are hunting with 5 sticks. You can set two sticks from the ground (another advantage to the short stick), put two on your waist, throw your stand on your back, hold one stick going up, and go up the tree a single time!

Most guys will end up using 5 sticks for normal set-up's. That's what I'll likely be using most of the time.

So if "most guys" will need 5 sticks, then why not sell a 5 Pack? How much is a single stick gonna cost? This was a gripe I had with LW as well.

lol..I use 6 sticks...3 LW and 3 Gorillas and the gorillas are a ripoff copy of the LW's, hence they were forced 2 quit selling them. Sounds like I need at least 9-10 Muddys

I think the same thing . I wanted a cheaper alternative but if i got to buy more sticks it may not

WKP Todd 01-16-2009 06:00 AM

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

Well, I can tell you that ours are definately not a "cheaper" alternative. If you want something that is TMA approved, extremely strong, made and quality control checked - it will not allow a company to sell them "cheap" and make any money on the product. I won't even get into liability insurance, patent costs, and development.

If we only sold them in 5-packs, the retail price would go up to $159.99 - which most people won't pay. We are faced with these decisions because of what the market has been trained to accept by the existing companies - we're just doing our best to offer the best possible product at the best possible price. 4 sticks at $129.99 is just that.

Individual sticks will cost $34.99 - and be available at the same time you buy a 4-pack - so if you want 5 then buy an extra one.

If you want to buy a low-quality and low-priced stick system - the new Muddy Sticks are surely not it!

Soa 5-stick pack would be less than the 4+1? Could you sell a 4 pack and a 5 pack, with the 5 pack having like a "Save a couple bucks and get a 5 pack" or something?

Ive never had any problems getting into my stand using my $35 sticks from wal-mart....

But if i were a "portable" fixed stand user, I could see where they would needed.

U like your UCR's? I love mine. The price of $75 for 6 hurt a little, but they sure are sweet IMO

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

To be honest Don, i only used them a couple times since I got them. They took a little getting used to putting them on the tree, but you can't beat how they some off and they are super quiet. I am still trying to find the best way to get everything on my pack comfortable and tight, but it's working ok for now, and I end up with a light pack.

RE: What's up with these new Muddy sticks?

Believe me man - I understand where you guys are coming from. From the supply, warehousing and costs stand-point, a 5 stick pack means another carton design and tool, another product we are forced to stock. A standard 4 pack and individual sticks are all we can offer to start. It's a HUGE investment to stock another configuration. You'd poop if you knew the associated costs with just adding another option. In the future - we may add alternative packs - but to start - we can't do it. We may do a 5-pack deal - but that's up to the owner of Muddy.
