Acorn Trouble...

We have VERY few acorns this season. The deer movement was still good, especially toward the fields and food plots.
There was a good write up online about this recently. They said many factors, including the wet year, have contributed to the lack of acorns on the east coast this season. As already stated, things go in cycles and they said next year could be a bumper crop.

My property was full of acorns but the National Forest lands 5 miles away had none. We had a late frost this spring and my area may have been sheltered but the NF, which is across a river, may have been hit hard killing all the acorns.

Here's a question for those who know. What affect does gyspy moth have on acorn production? Our area was hammered by gypsy moth this summer. We didn't spray our property this year and paid the consequences for it. I'm guessing that an inundation of the moths would have quite a dramatic effect on acorns as well.

Not more than a handful of acorns seen in 3 different W Pa places and SE Ohio. Killed my hunting this year. When I don't have any acorns the deer basically have almost no reason at all to visit the land I hunt.
