Any state but Maine, I love it here and the terrain is as beautiful as you will see anywhere, but our whitetail population stinks. The taxidermist I took my buck to told me that he was talking to someome from the state fish and wildlife dept and he told him that if we have another winter like last year the whole state could be shut down to whitetail next year. It is estimated that 60% of our deer population was lost to winter kill last year.

Man, thats tough.

I love the photos Magicman posts, I love the deer I see being taken from the "Golden Triangle"...What a decision.

Actually, I've considered this, recently. I plan to move out of NJ and to a more rural State(yuppies get to me).

I want to live in a rural, agricultural area that also has rich, deep, forest land.

SE Ohio is looking like an option, as well as Western Iowa. Who knows, but I sure as hell hope its not NJ !!
Drop me a PM, I know of a 3bed/2Ba with 70acres for $130k!!!! And another home with 20acres and a pond for $65k!!! Both in Muskingum County, home of nearly 500 over 150" bucks killed!!!!

To the original topic, for pure hunting, Northern NM or Southern CO would be my choice.

I'd have to stick with my home state stomping grounds here in Iowa. Kansas would be next on my list followed by a trip to Canada. (I knowCanada isn't a state).
