I was asking in inches, not age.

Certain PARTS of Certain STATES are better.

Not states in general.
Well said Kyle! I just wish we had more of these "Certain Parts" In Minnesota. We have the genetics, just not the right tools (DNR) to get It completed and back to what It once was.

Landon- Anywhere that you have unbelievable hunting pressure, good luck on figuring stuff out. Taking notes from other big buck states won't get you know where when you have this type of pressure.

I am going to shock the world and kill a P&Y PA, VA, and NC deer.[8D]

People are running around in circles on this. Antlers only? yes, they are bigger where more food, genetics, and age allow them to do so. Whether that be outfitters land in NC or managed land in IL.

Jeff, that situation isn't all that uncommon. (1.5 yo biggest deer all year) I could name you 10 farms around here where guys only see bucks like that as their biggest (KY). Some areas don't produce like ones ten minutes down the road....main reason imo? The guys that only see bucks like this hunt in an area where any and all bucks are shot....the area 10 minutes down the road, people hold out for bigger animals.

Theoretical question for anyone to take a stab at, if IL hunters swapped places with PA hunters....10 years from now, what will it be like? PA the new IL and IL now only small younger deer? It's all in the hunters as a massIMO.

ORIGINAL: Matt / PA

Someone name me ONE person from IL, IA, or KS that comes to PA, NY or VA to hunt deer every year. Just one.
Buckeye went to PA to hunt from OH and killed a bigbuck that almost went P&Y....kind of against the flow of hunter traffic isn't it?

Buckeye, PLEASE go back next year so it can be considered every year and my point isn't invalid.

That was from pg. 2, surprised someone caught it.

Anyways:

Minnesota has more "certain parts" then people think. I think people (not just you) are still looking "too big". Think smaller. Not even regions of the state, I'm talking move COUNTIES.

You know I agree with you on the DNR issue[:@]

fixed it for you as that applies anywhere. Ill one up you and say counties can even be too big of a picture. Moving 5 minutes down the road can make all the difference in the world from famine to feast.

People with almost 20,000 posts in a little over 3 years don't exit quietly.

I'd also like to note that within the next year I'm gonna try to make a trip to Kansas or Iowa to hunt whitetail.

Now.. I'm not stupid enough to point at my globe and say.. "Iowa is great and full of big bucks.. I'll just go here". And point to anywheresville Iowa.

I'm gonna research. Ask Q's to those who live and hunt there.. and get the best knowledge I can of that state... that region.. that county.. that township I want to be.

I don't want to go to Iowa. I want to go to a piece of heaven in Iowa.

Does that make more sense for some of you.
So where are you going in Iowa? Why aren't you making this trip to Maine, or NY, or Rhode Island? Heck, how about Indiana or Vermont? People can talk all they want, we know why people go to Iowa, it's not because they're better hunter there. It's not becauses the price is right. Why are you going to Iowa. Yes Dorothy, the grass is a different color there.
