I think my season is done
#1
Well I think my first deer season is done. Went to a family friend's property today in Bellevue, Mi and did not see a single deer. I have no where else to hunt for the month of december, the closest is 40 miles one way. For it being my first hunting season I am at least walking away with a lot more knowledge of the elusive whitetail and will be back next fall to hopefully take my first with my bow. Might make one or two more trips out to that property before the season ends Dec. 31st here in michigan but not sure how lucky I will be. Good luck to the rest of you guys and thanks for the info I got this season, helped a lot!

Keep plugging. My first year of bowhunting I shot my first buck the last 10 minutes of daylight on the last day of the season. I don't normally like to cut it that close.... but it made my year and got me fired up to keep in tune with the old recurve until the next fall arrived.

Iam starting my 52nd year in Bowhunting (Yes, I am old). You would think I have Deer figured out by now.
This year my 1st 6 trips I saw not ONE DEER. I was beginning to think I was loosing my ability as a Bowhunter. Then, I saw one big buck one day, then let 2 small bucks pass & filmed them fighting the next day, then d Does out of range the next & then 2 Big Bucks on different days then the 26th, 1 of 4 Does walked up at 25 yds & the picture tells the story. I will still be getting out there trying to fill a Buck tag after gun season (I only Bowhunt).
Don't get discouraged (easy to say) BUT my motto is
IT ONLY TAKES "ONE" to be a SUCCESSFUL season... Good Luck
I have had several Bowhunts that way & have taken several animals on my last day & hour of a hunt. A 3x4 Elk for one & A very large Black Bear come to mind right away.

I took my 1st Deer (a Doe) in 1958 my 2nd year of Bowhunting.
45# Recurve, wood arrow & MA3 blade-no sights at 35 yds. I took 38 Biggame animals (Whitetail, Hog, Goat, Mule Deer, Elk& Bear) this way b/4 switching to Compound.
My compounds have been responsible for many more but in 52 years I have been blessed with MANY BOWHUNTING trips all over our great U.S. & Canada.
This is a early 60s Buck from Ws..on the last day in the afternoonof the early season.
Never give up.
Good Luck again.
