Steve,,thats just the way my year started out here. It was spikes and small fork horns everywhere then it rolled over to 1.5--2.5 eight and nine pointers, now there everywhere, and im not seeing the spikes and forky much anymore [&:]I have been lucky enough to be in shooting range of three p&y bucks this season but was never able to fling an arrow, a 160 class, a 130 class and a high 120-130 class[&:]I have another im after that i have seen three times at a distance but he keeps giving me the slip. I have had one good look at him in the binos and i think he will be in the 120's but he is the only one i have a half decent pattern on. I had two bucks stroll through at 60 yards yesterday evening. At first i thought the first one was a decent 2.5 with something twisted about his rack. I pulled up the binos and he had some very weird junk growing on one side and his body was big. I now think he was a 3.5 with a funky rack. Ill be there again this evening but in a different tree. seen some killer rubs this morning in there to good luck mr traditional

the reason there's so many small ones is because everyone keeps hitting the big ones with their cars[8D]

A reason you could be seeing more smaller bucks is because of the buck to doe ratio.

I also know that a 3 point i passed 4 times last year is now a 5 point.
I'm going to assume the 3 pt was a yearling and a 5 pt at 2 1/2. A buck doesn't start to show his real potential until 3.5, which is when more nutrition is put towards his antler growth. The first 2 years of his life it goes to body growth. So that 2 1/2 year old 5 pt could blow up at 3.5. One thing we know for sure, if he's dead, we'll never find out.
True that...my deer have been shown to make HUGE 2.5 to 3.5 year old leaps. All im saying is that most of the bucks were bigger than him at 2.5.
