Well of course a deer's gonna look where the call's coming from. It's trying to find the deer that made it. That's why when you call, move as little as possible.

I don't blind call anymore by itselffor the exact reason you stated. I've had too many deer catch me because of it.
The one time I will blind call is with rattling. I'll give a few grunts a minute or too before a rattling sequence just in case so when I crash the antlers together I don't blow out anything that may be close, but unseen.

It's not bad to blind call. You just need to make sure there's no deer around so they won't bust you.

Blind calling works sometimes, it works good for deer up to 3.5 years of age but after that, it's really hit and miss.
Guys don't realize what they sound like in the woods sometimes. I was hunting in Iowa three years back. I was sitting on a huge ridge and I heard grunts andrattling every ten minutes, about 300 yard down the in the gully and the wind was blowing up so sound carried. It was a hunter on the farm next to us and heput on his little callingshowevery ten minutes.I sat there listening to him thinking how staged it all sounded and I wondered if he know how fake it allsounded? Anyway, I think guys in general call way too much. I only call as a last resort and only if there has been a visual made so I can watch the deer and see how it reacts.
