RE: Hunting with snuff

i've had coons spook when they smelled my spit puddle. i've seen deer get alarmed by it as well. it can't be good or helpful. it's not a natural sent in their area.

I have never ran into a problem with deer getting spooked off cause they couls smell my chew. I gut my spit but I have thrown a chew out on the ground and have had deer come up and lick it just to see what it is
Same thing happened to me on my very first hunt. Threw out a plug of Grizz wintergreen and a little spike came up and licked it. I was mad... maybe I wanted to recycle it for later...wtf deer

I had 10 deer around me last Monday morning. I had a spit spot on the ground...about 3 feet from that I had taken a leak too(I try not to do that but that one couldn't wait:D). One of the larger does came under my tree and sniffed both spots and licked the Skoal. She didn't spook in the slightest.

As long as they don't associate those smells with you, they won't spook.
