RE: Hunting with snuff
i honestly cant remember a deer that i have killed in the last 10 years that i didn have a dip inmy mouth and a puddle of spit beside me
|
RE: Hunting with snuff
Well, my first deer I killed every I had a dip of copenhagen in. Get copenhagen pouches and Gut it.
also I hear that skoul wintergreen works well for a curiosty scent mint vanella or berry... But I am a copenhagen man. |
RE: Hunting with snuff

RE: Hunting with snuff
They dont mind it. I've had them come into 7 yards downwind and not give a darn. I had a young doe and a button buck come to the tree I was in and lick the ground where I had spit. They didnt spook and they didnt run off. So atleast where I hunt I KNOW it does not bother them.

RE: Hunting with snuff
I have never ran into a problem with deer getting spooked off cause they couls smell my chew. I gut my spit but I have thrown a chew out on the ground and have had deer come up and lick it just to see what it is

RE: Hunting with snuff
You will probably attract all the redneck deer.;)

RE: Hunting with snuff
this is the first year I have used a bottle to spit in instead of on the ground...after 20 long years!!! I have seen less deer this year!!!!!!!!!!! especially good bucks![:@]

RE: Hunting with snuff
I've seen many threads like this go around and they all will say the same thing.
1)You have guys that chew on stand and say they've never seen a negative reaction to chew spit and deer 2)You have guys that won't/don't chew that say they won't chance it. Nothing really in between. ha, ha |
RE: Hunting with snuff
i've had coons spook when they smelled my spit puddle. i've seen deer get alarmed by it as well. it can't be good or helpful. it's not a natural sent in their area.

RE: Hunting with snuff
I had 10 deer around me last Monday morning. I had a spit spot on the ground...about 3 feet from that I had taken a leak too(I try not to do that but that one couldn't wait:D). One of the larger does came under my tree and sniffed both spots and licked the Skoal. She didn't spook in the slightest.
As long as they don't associate those smells with you, they won't spook. |
RE: Hunting with snuff
i chew skoal apple, citrus, wintergreen, ect... i have killed 3 deer this year already ( 1 buck ..3 1/2 yr old, and 2 does)..i have yet to take a shot past 12 yards...
