Sorry to say this, but I am glad to here it. Not that I don't want you to get a good one, but we have been thinking the same thing down here in Southern Iowa. It seems like they just really haven't started yet. I have been seeing some smaller bucks chasing, but not to much action from the big boys. Hopefully it will pick up soon!

My evening hunt on November 1st I had a huge 150" buck grunt real loud and it was chasing a couple does. that was the first sign of the rut around iowa county for me. Then this past weekend every buck I saw was with 3 or 4 does.

North of I-80 I saw bucks chasing does all day long. I was out from sunday through tuesday and I have never seen so much buck movement. I would say that the rut is in full swing.

I have been out all week and today was a definate change. I saw bucks mid day trailing does.I hunt the Nebraska/Iowa border north of Omaha. At 12:45 I saw the biggest buck of the year (160 to 170") trailing a doe. Unfortunately, one of his henchmen spotted my movement and he'll live another day. Darn the luck!

Its been pretty slow here in eastern iowa. Bucks are hanging with the dows but moving real slow. The ones that come in on your grunt, they just look and keep walking? anybody else Note: The buck I shot last weekend was chasing a doe though.

Theres still corn around the sections where I hunt so that is where all the freaking deer are. I did see a couple bucks cruising but I havent seen any that I would say were chasing does. Fine by me. The weather has sucked here and Im in school during the week. If it can just hold out till my Thanksgiving break.[&:]
