Game Checking Stations/MN DNR
#1
Every year, during the rifle season (mostly) the Minnesota DNR "campsout" and a game checking station 4 miles from my house.
As people bring in their deer, they ask if they can take a few numbers down.
They take a sample of the teeth, and some antler measurments (if it is a buck, of course). I think that is really cool. They tell everyone a rough score, and the rough age of their deer. Not only good for the hunter, but good for the state/ my area.
Anyone else have anything like this going on, provided that you have to check in your deer?

Since CWD was found in the WV county I hunt in....we are req'd to check our deer in at the DNR office during the first week. They do the same thing, except they take tissue samples too. Yes, kinda cool. Just sucks to have to drive so far to check them in when it used to be the little store down the road.
Conversely...in VA where I hunt, a couple years ago they did away with the mandatory check in process. Now we can just call them in. I wonder how many people do [&:]

I'm glad that we are required to check in deer. I wouldn't like the call in system, I don't believe. Like you said, who knows how many people actually do.

Nothing like that here, You used to take it to the local check in gas statioin, and have your pic taken if you wished. Now it's just a automated phone call.
( you can still takeand check them in if you wish.)
