If we saw the same quote - it was 33 million dollars - not bows. They quoted PSE as selling approx. 110,000 bows (from a PSE sales rep). I agree that a lot of this info must be from guesses and rumors. I would also imagine that some people can come up with well-informed guesses.

I personally find Mathew' s sales figure of $33 million to be quite impressive considering they do not sell any low-end bows. Anyone affording a Mathews could have bought whatever they wanted. The person buying a PSE Nova or a Hoyt Magnatech might have preferred the Mathews, but couldn' t afford it.

Just wondering - are all bow companies privately owned? Any public companies would have to publish this data for stockholders.

I don' t think it' s numbers of bows that determines King of the Hill. Would anyone consider PSE the king, if they sell 100,000 Novas in Wal Mart, and very few top end bows? Also, no matter what any business challenged individual might think, bow companies are not in business to sell the most bows, they are in business to make the most money. If Hoyt lowers, their top of the line bows, to $100 each, I' ll bet they set all kinds of numbers records. However, they' ll lose lots of money and be out of business shortly thereafter. The King is such, because they sell lots of bows and make lots of money, which enables more research, new designs, more advertisement, and even more sales.

I remember seeing Parker on a list of fastest growing companies in the U.S. a year or two ago. In order to get on this list, they had to release some sales information. I know many companies (private including), give this information to Dun and Bradstreet, freely. It may be that sales volume is not that hard to figure out. I do know that if I have the highest sales volume in an industry, I' m going to feel like I' m the King of the Hill. Also, given the penchant for people at the bottom to sling mud at the people at the top, I' d say that Mathews is most likely King of the Hill.

Yes, you may be right, I scanned that post late, and could possibly have read it wrong. [&:] I would think the numbers closer to 100,000 bows sold would prove to be more like it.

I also think you may have something on the dollar figures, but that simply means the company made money. From an Archers' standpoint, we want to know who sold the most product. And if that product happens to be low-end stuff, oh, well. People are buying them, and there is a definative reason for that, whether it be price, or the fact that they get good value for that price, doesn' t really matter, fact is the numbers of total sales are there, regardless.

Yes, that means Escalade or one of the other Wal-mart -type companies that sell millions of those little kids starter bows could be #1 in the industry! No, it doesn' t sit well with us who like Hoyt, PSE, or Mathews (or any other brand for that matter) but as long as the industry is getting the sales and the future of our sport is secure, who are we to gripe?

Speaking of Escalade, if it were not for companies like them, some of the bow manufacturers we' ve come to know and love would already be history..Escalade for example just purchased the former NAAG which includes Bear, Jennings, Golden Eagle, and Buckmasters.

I beleive you' ll see more of these bigger sporting-goods companies eventually buying other bow companies too, just because they have the money to back them up and can bounce back quicker from a hit to the archery industry if they have other niche markets to cover for the losses during certain bad times. I won' t be a bit surprised if this happens more in the future.

You may have something there. The king just may be that company that makes the " Little Brave" bow. ;) Still, if someone wants to give me a bow company, I' ll take Mathews, even though I' d probably turn around and sell it the next day. :D

Yep, me too. BIG bucks too, oh, say about 3-4 million more than I paid for it. That would be just about right, not bad for a days' return.[:-]

Someone would pay it I' m sure, and I' d retire to the hunting camps in the spring and fall, and 3D ranges in the summer! Nice to dream, I wish my company would hurry up and get to that point, (gaining slowly, but gaining!) but right now for me it' s work, work,work!:D;) Pinwheel 12
