Well Guys I'm Crushed!!

i hunted my butt off all year so far like I'm sure most of you have! Always going into the woods with anticipation of getting a nice buck! Well sat. morning I missed 2 buck on my one farm that I have not hunted much so I decided to head back there this morning. To be honest I had great hopes of shooting a buck this morning and I felt real confident! Anyways I got into my tree settled in and got comfy! I began to call and it was not long I had my 1st buck walking torwards me!
Wait behind him was another buck, and before long I had 4 buck standing all withing 20 yards of me! A spike ,4 point, 7 point and an 8 point. I never even grabbed my bow as I was shocked! I decided to shoot the 7 point which was the bigger deer out of all of them! As I went to get my bow I caught more movement and here comes the big fella! ;)i am all ready and he is coming in in a hurry, but he never stops and he chases all the other buck off! I was like damn there went my chance! I hit the can a few times and the big guy came right back in!
There he was 18yards I was already ready and waiting. He was looking for the hot doe. I smoked him true double lung. He ran about 50 yards and piled up. Man I was shaking so bad I had to sit down or I would of fell out of my tree. Then when I collected myself I made some calls and I realized that he ran directly into the neighbors yard and fell over! I was on the phone telling Rob/pa about it when the garage door opened and he begun to back out till he saw the deer.
He jumped out of his Bmw and looked right at me climbing down and said and I quote" Don't Even Think of coming on my land" I said well can I get my deer please? He said "Absolutly not you don't worry about that deer" So there I stood honestly heart broken but super pissed off at this point! This was by far my biggest buck ever! I'm guessing he would of went 125" to 130". I made some calls to the local Game Warden and it was not 10 minutes he was there with the state police.
They went down to his house and he was waiting for them at the bottom of his driveway I figured he knew they would be there cause he had called before I did! Well he would not let them on his property either. They came back over to me about 20 min. later and talked to me and appologized and said there is nothing they can do. That he would not allow them on the land either! So all I got of MY deer is these pictures from back in July.

I want to again thank Andy from Ultimate camo....this stuff is awsome as I was in this oak tree with 5 alert buck not once being detected! Great product!
Rob buddy thanks for listening to me almost cry on the phone to you this morning while you were driving! Sorry for the long read I really was not gonna post anything about this as I just want to forget this day happened! Absolutely the worst day of hunting EVER! I just need time to cool off cause I seriously am thinking retaliation and I know its not right. Thanks for reading guys![:o]

man, so are you sure there is nothing you can do?

NO WAY I don't get that deer. NO WAY.

I'm not a proponent of trespassing and superceding a landowner's rights.....but there are penalties in place for trespassers. I'd accept the penalty and retrieve my deer.

Read that really slowly. There is NO conflict in it. I'd be willing to accept the consequences for my trespassing ways. When he left to go to work.....I'd have retrieved my deer. I can't think of a single scenario in which I wouldn't go ge tmy deer......short of the man standing there with a gun.

You've got to be kidding man, that sucks! Like I always say, payback is a beotch, and I'd have a few good ways of getting him back. My friends are ruthless, and I'd have no kwams about letting them loose. He made the wrong move if he was in my area. Good luck.

agreed 110% ......... if its once in a lifetime buck or even just a good buck, id be willing to pay almost anything to get him back

Also....I wouldn't be above going to him and telling him this.........

"If you don't let me have that deer......I'm going to hunt the edge of your property line and shoot EVERY deer, rabbit, squirrel, raccoon, possum, etc..... out of spite. If you let me retrieve it....I promise you I'm done killing deer here, this year."

Your move, sir.

Would "I" follow through on my threat? No. WOuld I make him think I would? Darned straight.

I'm with Jeff on this one. I would willingly accept the consequences of trespassing to retrieve that deer.

Wow that is crazy stupid. What did he do with the deer? I have to agree with GMMAT. I would have tried the legal approach as you did and when that did not work, I would have broken the law. I would have waited there until either he disposed of the deer or he left. Sorry to hear about this.

Jeff I went back just awhile ago deer was gone! I walked the perimeter of the property. Trust me Jeff i was going to get it! I can not afford the fines but my good buddy Rob said he would be willing to help pay to just go get my deer and thats what I had in mind till he decided to leave for work and then I was screwed.

Bawanajim...Yes sir we met he dislikes me very much! ;)He does everything in his power to make me miserable. However I never do anything wrong but anyways we had our run in's. I was about 2 feet from grabbing him by the neck the 1st day last year.

This is totally absurd. I would have calmly walked over to my deer and started dragging. If he wanted confrontation, Let the sack-punching begin. No way. I am with Jeff on this. He would have to be holding a gun on me to make me leave that deer. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Man, that guy needs an ass whoopin'.

Jeff my stand is at the corner of his property and the deer hug the corner of his yard! I have NEVER shot a deer on his property nor would I but I can guarantee you I will be back on that stand Sat. morning. I already have plans of Rob hunting this stand late season too!

FYI, if you're caught trespassing in IL to recover a deer. The first thing they'll do is confiscate the buck.

I don't know how they do it out there, but don't assume you'd keep the deer and just get a fine.

When I left he was still there! Who knows what he did. I left when the state police and game wardens told me there was nothing they could do. And honestly I probably would have got in more trouble with him standing there than I needede to be!

RE: Well Guys I'm Crushed!!

That's amazing, I thought most states allowed trailing of deer onto private land if you call a game warden and don't take a weapon onto the land? Guess not?

I'd figure that I tried it the proper way and since he's being a jackass, I'll have to take matters into my own hands. I'd go in at 2 a.m. with a buddy and one smallred lamp flash light. Each grab a horn and drag him back onto your property and gut him there. If you shot him this morning, the meat will be just fine if you get him tonight. It's a risk but if you do it stealthy and quickyou'll be fine. (I'm assuming that the deer is out of sight and he has not found it yet right?)

One other question, how can this guy see you getting out of your stand from his garage? How close to his house are you? Is that's what's pissing him off or is there history herethat he's holding a grudge or is it just becasue he's a tree hugging BMW driving sort of guy?

Christine....I was talking to Rob about this today. We both came up with the same fix for this in about 20 seconds. Just let a friend go get it (I'd have gone if I lived close) and tell the authorities you didn't retrieve it (if questioned). Next question they ask you.....don't answer it.

Burden of proof's on them.

Again....I'm ALL for landowner's rights. We have penalties in place when people break laws. For this level offense......if you're willing to pay the penalty.....have at it.

1 question I forgot to ask and maybe someone already asked but did he THINK the deer was in his yard when youshot himand the deer just dropped dead in his tracks or did he understand the deerjust ran that direction?? I think I might know where my next gut pile and every one from now on would be;)Just joking...kindof

100yards from his garage...25 yards from his yard! My property so I will hunt that corner cause thats where the deer come!

Whether you follow through with that or not....is your issue. I'd become the aggressor in this scenario, though. it can't hurt you, now. Your deer's gone.

How long did you let that deer lay there before you got down? Why did you stay in your tree? How fast COULD you have retrieved it?

Oh MAN that is rough. I don't even know what to say buddy except "get back on the saddle and hunt!". I would be crushed like you....all the hard work, everything you put into it and for some jerk to say no for whatever reason. He is being more of a jerk by not allowing you obtain the meat that you rightfully killed. Now that is waste and abuse on his part.

A CPO in Il cancome onto your property, look in your garage, look in your freezer, etc. without needing your permission. If you're less than truthful with them, they'll hammer you and you're looking at losing your hunting privledges.

As much as I symphathize with the 'just go get it' idea, it may not be the wisest choice.

Publicly stating that you are willing to and even suggesting to others to break laws just because you can "afford" to puts you in the same light as the land owner. Some times our action speak volumes about our selves.

Making two bad decisions will not alleviate another's pointless actions.

How many lives were lost in Wisconsin because to many hot heads meet at one location?

Hey, not to be a weakling but have you ever thought of writing the guy a heartfelt letter explaining your thoughts on hunting and what that deer means to you? Play on the heartstrings, then put on the heavy metal if no response....much to what Jeff said. I would become the aggressor in this matter if he did not relent. I would do everything within the boundaries of the law to make that man's life miserable.

But god was I shaking I thought i was gonna fall out of my tree! Jeff he will be sorry thats for sure! Bud your more than welcome to come up and hunt late season with Rob and i. Jim....If I knew the only thing that stood between my family dying or living was stealing food.....I'd steal food.

If I was told I had to commit a crime to protect them....I'd do that to (and announce my intentions to the world if need be).

If that speaks "volumes" about me....so be it.

Personally, I would have walked up to the deer and drug it off his property.

When he came at me, I would have thrown his head through the window of his BMW.

His word against mine. He saw my deer fall at the edge of his property and when he saw me retrieving it, he came at me swinging.

Kidding. :D

Sort of.

Couldn'tthe friendtag it and say it was a deer he killed the same day on Twildasin's property? Heck who knows what happened to the deer he shot and went over towards the neighbors house. This is a different deer. Somone must have taken the one of off the neighbors property but it wasn't me.

He's obviously mad about something. It may be that it's because you've got a stand 25 yards from his yard? Hard to say though??

Can this guy be 'bargained' with? Guessing not, since the law has already been involved and not been able to retrieve it for you.

Would he listen to reason if you told him that you would hate for the meat to go to waste and would be willing to either pay him a little something or make a donation to his favorite charity, etc.?
