Christine....I was talking to Rob about this today. We both came up with the same fix for this in about 20 seconds. Just let a friend go get it (I'd have gone if I lived close) and tell the authorities you didn't retrieve it (if questioned). Next question they ask you.....don't answer it.
Burden of proof's on them.
Again....I'm ALL for landowner's rights. We have penalties in place when people break laws. For this level offense......if you're willing to pay the penalty.....have at it.

That's amazing, I thought most states allowed trailing of deer onto private land if you call a game warden and don't take a weapon onto the land? Guess not?
I'd figure that I tried it the proper way and since he's being a jackass, I'll have to take matters into my own hands. I'd go in at 2 a.m. with a buddy and one smallred lamp flash light. Each grab a horn and drag him back onto your property and gut him there. If you shot him this morning, the meat will be just fine if you get him tonight. It's a risk but if you do it stealthy and quickyou'll be fine. (I'm assuming that the deer is out of sight and he has not found it yet right?)
One other question, how can this guy see you getting out of your stand from his garage? How close to his house are you? Is that's what's pissing him off or is there history herethat he's holding a grudge or is it just becasue he's a tree hugging BMW driving sort of guy?

I'd tell him I was gonna kill everything I saw....and gut them on the property line....if he didn't produce my buck.
Whether you follow through with that or not....is your issue. I'd become the aggressor in this scenario, though. it can't hurt you, now. Your deer's gone.
How long did you let that deer lay there before you got down? Why did you stay in your tree? How fast COULD you have retrieved it?

Oh MAN that is rough. I don't even know what to say buddy except "get back on the saddle and hunt!". I would be crushed like you....all the hard work, everything you put into it and for some jerk to say no for whatever reason. He is being more of a jerk by not allowing you obtain the meat that you rightfully killed. Now that is waste and abuse on his part.

I would have gone and gotten the deer, I'd take the fine, no hesitation. Letting it go to waste is unacceptable and so is the fact the State Police and GW couldn't do a damn thing about.

WOW. I am sorry man. That is awful. I can't even imagine that happening.
I'm getting pissed just thinking about it.
Right or wrong this guy would be in for some problems in the future.
