RE: Build my arrow!

You have a problem. Your draw length is pretty short, but you could get the 82nd which has an IBO of 350 fps. You loose 15 fps/ inch of draw that you go down from 30" which is what IBO is measured at. If you are feeling strong you can get the 80lb limb option. I was wrong about this. I called Bowtech about an 80# limb option and the Guardian was the only one that that they will make 80# limbs for. Each pound you add to your draw weight, you gain 2 fps. You can also get it super tuned by your pro shop if they know what to do. That will add speed and make it shoot smoother. You might walk out of there 10-20 fps faster after a super tune, depending on the bow and the quality of tuning. I know that the PSE X-Force (350 fps IBO) can be super tuned to 370+. If you went with that rout, you would be shooting 310 fps- 320 fps at 70# and a 27.5" DL. I don't know what a super tune would do to the 82nd, but I am about to find out because I am going to call terminal velocity archery tomorrow.

That's going to be difficult at best with your short draw length. DO NOT overbow yourself just to get the speed. Speed ain't squat if you first can't draw the bow smoothly, and second.....if you can't hit what you aim at, what good is it? 80# limbs are gonna tear your shoulders up man. Heck with the speed. Get what you can get, but don't focus on it.

Exactly.

you can get a pass through anyway.....After that....any additional speed is just fluff. Unless you plan on going Bison hunting for something with inch thick armor like skin, sitting anywhere around the 300 mark is fine. And you dont need a bowtech. They are great bows but there are lot cheaper options out there that will do just what you ask them.

I'm not gonna break into the physics of all this, but there's more to a pass through than speed. In fact, there are many instances where you will get better penetration from a slower arrow. Speed is only a part of the equation, arrow weight is the biggest factor. Light arrows slow down and lose energy faster. For deer sized game, it's a moot point. But if you're hunting bison, as in the above scenario.....I would take a 600 grain arrow flying 250 over a 350 grain arrow flying 310 any day of the week and twice on sunday.

Very aware...just trying to make a point. speed isnt everything.

But it is nice and cool.

After a few calls, I found out that you cannot get any bowtech to 80# except the Guardian. I am disappointed to say the least.

True....Very fun to show off....just not all that necessary.

RE: Build my arrow!

My pro shop misinformed me of the stats on my setup. I was doing some tuning and measured the weight on my bow. It's 73, not 83. So I called Bowtech to find out if there were 80 lb limbs available, and the answer is no unless you have a Guardian. Not happy. So I put it through the chrono and got a disappointing 340 fps. That means that there is something wrong with the chrono at my pro shop. I'll let them know. Let me be the first to admit that I may have known that the chrono was off. Sorry for reporting the data out of a bad chrono. I'm not mad, I just need to find an other way to be the fastest.
