RE: Build my arrow!

ORIGINAL: Matt/NC

I am really interested in seeing the 82nd and shooting it, but the long axle to axle is a bit of an issue for me as I had been shooting a bow that was roughly a 31" axle to axle. However having a bow that starts out claiming 350 fps would give me a seriously fast and hard impacting arrow allowing me to shoot a little heavier arrow and stay around 300 fps.
Matt,
What you'll find is that longer axle2axle seems to hold a little steadier and does make it a bit more forgiving, even moreso for guys with longer DL's. The 82nd is fast, and pretty smooth for a bow that FAST, but I liked the 101st a little better after I got a chance to shoot both. Though I'm not a big BT fan, pretty much all of their 08 bows that I shot were nice shooters, even though I did wince as I released the General after seeing some pic's of guys with stitches in their forearms and such, but they are all nice shooters, as are the Diamonds that I shot, and for that matter, pretty much every newer bow that is a "top shelf bow," is a GOOD shooter. Shoot everything you can, then decide. If you really like SMOOTH, the Diamond BLACK ICE was as smooth as silk, the Marquis was a little faster, but just not quite that SILKY smooth that the BLACK ICE was. So you really have to put your hands on them and shoot them before you buy a bow based on it's spec's alone. A LOT of guys LOVE the Generals, even though their not really a speed bow because they are so SMOOTH and quiet. If you get 280fps, and the bow feels perfectly balanced in your hand, and draws smooth as silk vs. getting 300fps and having a little harsh breakover, then you may end up kicking yourself on a cold morning or at the end of a 3D course when your muscles are a little tired.

And for the record anything in a 28" 400 spine will work just fine for you with a 100gr tip.
