I let a few people know...I arrowed a nice little 8 pointer this morning....and tracked him for a LONG ways through some of the thickest terrain I've ever seen. I arrowed him at 7:30.....and told folks I was going to get on the trail at 1:30. I lied. I got on it at 12:30. I'll post a map of the trail I followed...which was OK blood.....or about average I'd say for the hit i made. 27 yds quartering away. Arrow entered behind the last rib and was buried to the fletch, almost. I can't understand it.

When I shot him....he jumped to the right....and paused. Good blood at the POI.....good blood where he paused. Good blood along the trail, I thought. He traveled a LONG way, though (see map).

The area he came from and retreated to was clear cut a few years ago. It's the nastiest stuff I've eve encountered. I went through a lot of it, today.

I knew I was on the adjacent property....and heard someone firing a ML there tonight. I went over to talk to him....because I had already dreaded calling him and asking him if I could continue my search. He couldn't have been any more understanding....and told me to look through the weekend if I needed to. What a nice guy.

I'll be back out there at first light....and I'll look until I either find him or the landowner's generosity wears out. It's not that he's a monster. I just need to find him.

My request....if you're near and have nothing better to do....I'd appreciate your help, Sunday (or tomorrow if you can on short notice). I know it's hunting season....so hunt if you can, tomorrow. I'll do my best without you. I'd so much appreciate any of you that could help Sunday.....if I'm unsuccessful, tomorrow. Send me a PM ...or if you have my number...drop me a line. Call the house. My cell phone and camera are still in the woods on the blood trail. I'll get them tomorrow.

I know this isn't exactly board protocol....but I don't mind asking for help when I need it.

Red dot is where I was sitting. White line is his travel after I shot him.

Gmmat,

From the United Blood Trackers website there are 2 trackers, one 2 hours and one over an hour away. I don't know if they will come or not.

Best of luck Jeff. If I had milk to pick up in NC you bet I'd be there.

Best of luck, keep me updated.

Good luck Jeff. Hopefully you'll find someone close enough to give you a hand. That does seem like a long way for a shot like that - maybe its just the map. Deer never cease to amaze me. They are tough as nails. I hope you find him.
