how can a deer be a 1/2 a year old and some are not I thout that all deer are born in spring so that would mean a deer cant be 1.5 or 2.5 it would just be 1 or 2 right i really dont get this could some one help me out thanks guys

If a deer were born in may of 2007 it would be 18 months old in November of '08. Or 1.5 years old.

A fawn born this year would be 1/2 year old. So, if it survives until next hunting season, it would 1 1/2 years old.

A deer born in may & Killed in November. How long was it alive? 6 months.
6 months is a Half year.
Add one for each additional year it lives. Deer killed in hunting seasons are “X” yr & a halfs.


You get some variations a month or 2 either way, but for the majority its easier to say 1.5, 2.5 etc for hte deer's age.

Some people leave off the half.

No there not 6 months apart. Some people just say 2 Instead of 2.5. Or maybe there referring to a 2 year old deer In May or June.

A deer is "1" or "2" in the spring and "1.5" or "2.5" in the fall (1/2 year after the spring).
