Ok I got in my stand about 4:00 and could tell deer would be moving so I settled in. At about 6:45 a doe tried to sneak in behind me, but I saw her. I stood drew and leveled my pin right behind her shoulder for a 35 yrd shot. As soon as I hit the release she dropped like a sack of potatoes, and the arrow flies right over her back. CLEAN MISS! CRAP! Well I watch as she trotts off to the edge of the field and then is when it got weird. She made a sound like nothing I have ever heard from a deer call. She sounded alot like a raptor on Jurassic park. Very high pitched squeal/growl/bleat sound. WHAT THE HEAK WAS THAT? She made several of these sounds and then disappeared into the woods, I climbed down after about 20 min and found my arrow and headed in. Now WHAT WAS THAT SOUND and do you think this spot is screwed?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAYxUcB97MYWatch this video, that happened to me last week with a buck in the early morning, he did it for a solid two mins and after that I didnt see or hear a single thing that morning because of the noise. Its a call saying that something bad is near and not to come out. watch the video, thats what you hear i am guessing

From my experience, deer make that noise when they get wind of your scent. I have had deer go down wind of me and make that noise. I think the sound warns other deer that something's up. It doesn't seem all that rare to me.
