In need of some Confidence!
#1
Well this year has been really hard for me. I have hunted 15 times and only seen deer twice. I have to clean misses, both my own fought. The first i missed a coyote i guess at about 40 yards and when i stepped it off it was more like 32 yards. The second was this morning. I got in my stand and about 30 min. before sunrise 4 deer appear behind me. I stand up draw and my arrows in my quiver hit the crossbow rest my brother has on the stand (Bing) They go on full alert. The big doe turned right towards me so now i'm at full draw with no shot. I held for over a min. when she finally turned. At this point i can't hold any longer and release a stupid shot. Completely my fault, there wasnt much light and could barly see my pin through my peep. I rushed the shot and shot right underneath her. I'm just really down right now. I didnt get a deer last year so i was really hoping for some meat in the cooler. Looking for some incouragement.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not he burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
--Isaiah 43:2
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.
--Hebrews 10:35, 36
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

How about "you ain't got a prayer unless their are arrows in the air" haha, just keep hunting. Take some time to practice, confidence comes from knowing you can make the shot. Then just keep plugging away, and I'm sure you will get one.

Dude that is hunting. You learn from your mistakes and before long you rarely make them anymore. What i think you should learn from this season is become much better at determining yardage because mistaking 32 yards for 40 yards is a pretty big misjudgment, and second you might want to start shooting with your quiver detached. Quivers tend to offset the weight of your bow, cause extra noise when fired and also get in the way like yours did. Just put an extra hook in your tree and hang it up. Just keep at it, i have had seasons like that myself but i always seem to fill all my tags. It's still pretty early and warm, once it gets really cold you will start seeing more action.

11---here is the best confidence booster of all...the next 4 weeks are the best time of the year to be in the woods....your opportunities are going to explode if you just keep hunting hard....put in your time. Keep hunting. Keep at it. We are all like you, we all fail every once in awhile and sometimes fail 5, 6, 7 times in a row before we succeed. And then again, sometimes we "fail" all season long and never get a deer...that is what makes this whole hunting thing FUN!
