Does this count running battles?:D I had two deer that I had running battles with in which I emptied my quiver(4 arrows). The first one the last two were at a downed deer. In the second one I was tracking after dark and came up on him bedded on 3 occasions. Of course I couldn' t see my sights and was in my " Point and Shoot" mode.:eek: Have you ever tried to acquire and anchor with a flashlight in your mouth? [:' (][:@][:o]I should have tried to creep closer but the deer was up and alert. Did you know that an arrow glancing off a deers horns in the dark makes sparks?[:' (] I ended up with the last arrow missing and sticking in a tree the other side of the deer. I finally located him piled up in a blowdown with his head still up. The first arrow had broke when it went throught the front leg and shoulder. 2 and 3 were lost in the dark. 4 was stuck in a tree. I went back and tried to cut it out but got impatient because the deer was 30 yards away with his head still up. I broke it off. My only option was to lasso his horns with my safety belt, snatch his horns up straddling a small tree growing up through the blowdown and running the safety belt around the tree where upon after having secured him I slit his throat with a knife while avoiding flailing hoofs. It wasn' t pretty and would have made a great " How NOT To" video. The proverbial Keystone Cops or Chinese Firedrill for sure. I called my wife 3 or 4 times to tell her I would be late. When I finally got home I looked like the deer won. I was wet, sweaty, bloody and cut all over my face and hands from " Wait a Minute" vines and thorns. Why is it those things always get you first right down the middle of your nose and the next one gets your ear? I got out of the woods about 10 with the deer and he ended up 60 yards from a road.

I shot at a doe 3 times and missed it al 3:(...it was my first shot at a deer with a bow though.

Great story David! I would have loved to be a fly sitting on the tree you didn' t hit! :D Who would have thought you could make sparks like that. ;)

I have shot at a number of deer twice. I even missed the same deer twice once, I am ashamed to say. [:@]

havent goten a shot at a deer with a bow yet either. but that will change hopefully this yr. ya good story david

I have taken two does and an 8pt. with a second arrow. Each time the first shot missed, but thanks to a quiet bow and a relaxed deer, I was able to get another arrow on the string and make the second shot count.

I once took 3 shots at a 6 pointer.

First shot was low, and hit the creek he was standing in. The water splashed up and hit his belly spooking him. Second shot I over compensated and it went over his back. Third shot I was way off from nerves and I missed completely.

Three for me. In fact I' m looking at his bleached out skull now. He wasn' t too bright. My release went off prematurally twice, tracker string all over the place (I retied it all three times) I finally got him to munch on a apple long enough to get the third wack at him, in the throat. By,by.

The deer in my area must be the smart ones out of the group they seem to run when i miss them

Maybe you' re too good and come to close with the intial shot.;) I agree though.. most of the deer in my neck of the woods start leaving about the time I squeeze the release. By the time the arrow sticks in the ground they' ve completed the squat and are ready to jump.
