Well all you really need is a bow, some arrows, some camo, and yourself. You don't NEED anything else but it makes it a lot nicer to have. Thermacell works great for bugs and is nice to have around and it doesnt weigh much.
You don't even need that! But we like to give ourselves every advantage, even if its only mentally

So true... self confindence contibutes to the mental game. Having said that, some of my best bowhunting years were when I was younger. My only camo was my hat(John Deere of course), blue jeans, and a five brothers flannel shirt tucked in as to not get in the way of the draw.Usually I went right to the tree from work smelling like grease and sweat. Some nights ended with does busting me, but many were successful hunts. Successful meaning I saw deer throughout the hunt, and enjoyed myself. I killed just as many deer hunting "farmer style", as I did when bowhunting started becoming more mainstream. I to felt it was a must to have all of the bells and whistles hanging off of me to sucessfully kill a buck. There is no doubt thatcamo helps from being silloetted in the tree. I don't care what kind of scent block orcover sprays you put on. If the windconditions are wrong, chances are you'll get busted. Hunt the wind to the best of your abilities, wear some camo that's quiet, keep your hunting clothes outside in the clean air, and invest in a good pair of rubber boots. As you continue to hunt through the years, you will be the judge of what is necessity and what is not. Good luck.

i wondered how much i need when my pack got around 15 pounds.

I have a few calls thermacell a must and it works great my camcorder,a bottle of water My tripod for the cam which is most of the weight. i also have my poncho incase it rains and a rope for bothdragging and pulling the deer up a tree to gut.
The only thing i think i really did not need was the game cart i bought. It is reallyto loud to drag into the woods in most spot i hunt But iuse it to haul the heavy pop up i have it weighs like 30 poundsmy bucket seat and my pack. So it makes it easier when i can use it

Anything and everything associated or marketed to reduce the level of human scent. A whitetail can smell BETTER than a blood hound, and they've been proven to follow the scent of a human after using any and all of the stuff on the market!

I agree, the clothes are quality threads...nothing more. The technology is bunk, little dots of carbon wont trap in scent. except some of the sprays. PT told me it will take the smell of gasoline off your hands, I tried it, and sure nuff.

Some claim to take the smell out of a cotton ball drenched in doe urine, if it will do that...this stuff is magical.

Yeah, but I own SL. And science isn't something one "believes" in, it either works or doesn't.
Still great threads, clothing rather, none the less though. If I found the right price, I wouldnt hesitate a second to buy more, they make quality gear.
