Default Another Rave Rage Review

After reading the on going debates over the pros and cons of the 2 blade rages over the last few months, I decided to put the MX-3's on the shelf, and try out the Rage.

Well, I couldn't be happier with my decision. I was out on Saturday, had a group of three doe's walk in behind my stand at 25 yards. I hit the lead one with an arrow right above the shoulder, she ran 10 feet stoped, stood there for 20 seconds, and droped dead.

I have never had that happen before, and the hole it left was unbeliveable. 10 mins. later, the other 2 does came back and I arrowed the second one, a little high, but still in sweet spot, 25 yards and a massive blood trail later, there she was, with the same massive holes in her.

Both were complete pass thrus, with the arrows completely buried in the ground.

I am sure any properly placed broadhead would be just as devistating, but compared to what I was using before, I am much happier with the Rages.

My buddy I was hunting with this weekend shot at a big Doe at 20yards with a Rage and hit her in the shoulder. The arrow only penatrated 2 inches and they fell out. I know he was not impressed with the Rage. I know a shoulder shot is a bad place but only 2".[] I know the jury is still out for him on the Rage Broaheads. I gave him my 2 bits on what I thought about expand Broadheads! Oh, he was shooting a compound set at 65lb and carbon arrows. It was also a straight on broadside shot.

Man I've been hearing a lot of good things about these broadheads. Are they worth the $35.00 price tag though?

You need to understand that when you hit the "knuckle" of the shoulder that you are only going to get 2" of penetration with any BH. About 10 years ago a hit a buck tipped with a Muzzy and only got 2" of penetration because of what and where I hit, not because of the BH. And I was shooting 300fps with my bow.

I think that they are, and 35.00 is not that much more than most of the betters fixed blades.

Personally I don't think they are worth$10 IMO. I too heard all the reviews and putmy Montecs away for an afternoon hunt.I used the Rage's once and they did not fully open and cost me a buck with poor penetration. I threw all 3 BH'saway after that hunt...Montecs all the way for me from here on out.

Just my opinion on them...I know many who swear by them
