Well I have to go with the Summit Cobra it is by far the best stand I'v erver had easy, light and quit.I personaly did not like the big chain on the API and it was a little heavier.

i agree, the summit cobra is lighter at 17#. i got the cobra for christmas and have only used it one time. i sat in it for 3 hours that evening hunt without having to stand up if i had only had my tv set watching the ball game. it felt just like sitting in a recliner in front of the t.v. my brother has the a.p.i. grand slam supreme and just loves his stand. this makes the second one he has bought. he made the mistake of leaving his 1st one in the woods and it got stolen. i think he said it weighed 21#. if i were you i would go to a big sporting good store and decide for yourself.

SUMMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I USE A SUMMIT PYTHON FOR BOWHUNTING AND THE SUMMIT VIPER EXTREME FOR RIFLE HUNTING! DON'T WANT TO EVEN LOOK AT ANOTHER STAND. I HAVE SAT IN ONLY ONE OTHER STAND THAT WAS MORE COMFORTABLE, AND THAT WAS A BUILT STAND WITH A BIG OFFICE CHAIR IN IT. SUMMIT IS REALLY GREAT. STRONG, LIGHTWEIGHT, EASY TO SET UP, EASY TO CLIMB, COMFORTABLE, AFFORDABLE. WHAT MORE COULD YOU ASK FOR.

I have the Bowhunter and it is a nice comfertable stand but there are alot of things I dont like about it also. DougMD mentioned alot of the same things I dont like about the stand. I will be looking to buy a Summit for next year.

This is a little different from everybody else's choice. I almost bought a climber, but went with a fixed position instead (a BUDDY SYSTEM-so I could take my 6yr. old with me). I did alot of searching myself and many caught my eye, including those already stated, BUT my choice would have been an BOW STAR, made by North Starr Treestands. 15.5lbs., 300lb cap., top unit is 21" wide, platform is 18"x34", seat also flips for standing. Something to think about. Go to NORTHSTARRTREESTANDS.com (sorry, don't know how to make a link)
