guys that can score...
to you guys that are usually pretty good about scoring a rack...
how do you estimate beam length and mass measurements?? i can usually get close enough with tine length and spread....just dont really know how to estimate mass and beams...id imagine that is where most of the real error sets in....
just curious if theres a hidden "method" or trick or anything to it...thanx

The best I can say is guessing at racks with known MB length & mass measurements. Then you get a feel for what they are. There is also some trick about a deer’s eye & relating that to the mass, but I don’t know the specifics.

Good masss is equal to the diameter of the eye at the base. Great mass is bigger the the eye.
Beam either come back to touch and/or sweep toward the nose before they turn back inward.

interesting stuff...i guess thats where the REAL trial and error learning comes in....i was kinda expecting some tricks like "16 or so inches between the tips of the ears"
guess the best way to learn is look at racks that have been scored and learn what it all looks like....without this site i would never learned much about scoring....still isnt important to me...i just like to know how....
i find it VERY useful to call BS on my buddies..."oh look at this one i got on camera! hes atleast 160 maybe 170" BS!!!!!! thats a 110" buck...nice buck...but he aint no 160-170"er!! i find that all the time...these kids watch way to many huntin shows and never took a tape to anything....they would make killer fishermen...."we were spottin last night this bucks tines were THIS HIGH!" showing something thats closer to 2ft than what it REALLY was....
