I think I'm going to go over to Illinois and hunt with a friend of mine this weekend. I'm only going to buy a doe tag. From what I can gather on the internet it looks like I'll have to buy a hunting license and then a deer tag. Is this right? It sounded like a grand total of about $75 or so.
1- can you tell me if this is correct about what I need to buy?
2- can you tell me if I can just go into a walmart and buy it? Or is there some sort of drawing I may have missed...?[:@]
Thanks for any help!!

Unfortunately, there is a drawing for out of state bow tags. You generally have to sign in the spring and you get your tags that summer.

You might be right....However, I thought it was for all out of state tags. I only moved to IL 4 years ago so I'm def. not an expert on our out of state regs. I'm sure one of the other IL guys will be along shortly to straighten us out.

Hey Chris, are you sure? I just found the information that I was thinking of on the IL DNR site:
2008 Non-Resident Archery Antlerless Only Deer Permits are now available from DNR Direct Vendors
On the link of vendors is Wal-Mart... I'm confused. Now I remember why I started this post! [:@]

As a non-resident, you buy a 5 day or season hunting license, a habitat stamp, then you can get all the doe tags you want to buy for $15.50 a tag.
The non-resident draw is for an either-sex tag whch gives your the license to shoot a buck!

Cool - happen to know if I'm in the range of $75 like I had thought?
You Illinois'ians sure can make an easy thing difficult. In Missouri when we want to go deer hunting we buy a deer hunting tag

Nevermind! Found it! I was missing the habitat stamp... when you add that in it's about $80... then 15$ per doe after that. Cool deal! Thanks fellas!

Thanks Eddie for the clarification. It's pretty sad when a Georgia boy understands the IL regs. better than we do. [8D]
