There are different formats such as NAD83 etc. Make sure it is set to the correct one.

how do I do that? how do I determine what format my unit uses?
ok, I found map datum: wgs 84 on my gps
can I change that?
How can I tell what google uses?

I use Google Earth all the time up here and punc coordinates into my GPS from it. My Garmin Rino 530 Map Datum is set to WGS 84 and the position format is set to hddd mm'ss.s". When I get a new GPS the Postion Format is usually set to hddd mm.mmm' and I have to change it.

Are you saying the format on the bottom left corner of GE is different than your GPS?

In GE under Tools>Options your Lat/Long is set up different than mine. The only reason I use Degrees, Minutes, Seconds is because that's what all of my hunting group uses.

Glad you figured it out!

I have had a GPS since the Garmin 40 came out many many years age. In theory it was great but in days of tighter SAS standards it could barely find the truck at the end of the day.
I am using a venture right now and I don't even think it was as good as my Etrex of 6 or 7 years ago.
Drop me a PM will you teammate?? I have a couple of questions and you look like the guy to answer them. You liking the Rhino??A pair of those is on my wish list...
