some of my areas are very remote and require trail tacks so i have to use one in these areas but only shine it when needed. If i can find my area without tacks ill sometimes just use a red lense to keep from getting shot even though its low pressured but just gives me peice of mind.

I don'tuse one at all going in to my regular spot, but there are a few spots where I use one so as not to step on twigs on the way. WhenI do use one it gets pointed directly down at my feet, never ahead of me.
Yup what he said.

I use one in early bow season for spider webs. I HATE spiders.

I use one because where I hunt there are lots of small game animals & snakes I don't want to walk up on-----skunks, water moccasins, copper heads, feral hogs, coral snakes, black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders and also the rumor of mountain lions!

During gun season, always, even on my own land if there are trespassers. I'll wave it around every now and then so any direction will see me. Better to bust a deer then to die during those 10 days in November. But the rest of the year, I bring a tiny blue pen light I will point down and slightly ahead of me if needed. It lights up just enough to see.
