Default Sight Setup?

I'm new to archery huntingand was trying to get comfortable with the distances I should set the pins on my sight. Just wondering what distances some of you have set your pins. I was thinking of setting at 20, 30 and 40 yards.

if your knew i dunno if id jump strait to a 40 yd pin i have mine set at 10-25-35 ... it really depends on how fast your bow shoots and what distance your comfortable shooting a deer adn not wounding it.... what kinda bow do you shoot

With today's bows, it' not entirely necessary to setup a 10yd pin, so more often than not, people set up their pins in 10yd increments starting at 20yds. If you plan to shoot 3D, some recommend setting up at yardages most likely to be encountered on a course (23, 28, 33, etc). I would just stick with the 20, 30, 40, learn where you hit in between those yardages, and learn to gap accordingly.

I have a three pin, and like my bottom pin to be set for long distance. I'll never use it for hunting, but its good for practice, gets me to concentrate more.

I dont think you need a ten yard pin. i have noticed that the difference in drop between ten and twenty yards is not worth messing with. i have a six pin sight with my pins set at 20, 30, 40, 50, 55 and 60 yards. i think starting at 20 yards is a good ides...but that is just my opinion.
