I know they use the pond, Gri22.......but I haven' thad a wind to go in there. As soon as it switched to the west I guess we'll see.
they have food water and cover in that woodlot. They needn't go far.
If he's entering from the west.....he can go in and out of there leisurely. I'm gonna hug the center of that woodlot when I get a good wind and see if I can spot him.....then I guess I'll crowd him a little at a time. I suppose a good N wind could see me setting up in the S end of that lot, too.
I'll stay out of there in the mornings, ...............for now

First.. congrats on the two does Jeff. Great job.
I haven't been on much lately.. and I don't usually do this sort of thing. It's actually really the first time I've ever looked hard at your new piece.
But if I were to handle it like it was my first day hunting it with the little knowledge I have of this piece of ground... where the red Y intersects is where I would set up to hunt this buck of yours.
A funnel is created by that pond. One pinches between open farmland and water and the second is to the west of the pond and must cross a creek.
Take this info. with you though.. If that inside corner is not visible to the road.. deer may find it easier to cross open field.
But it is my guess.. that sooner or later a few rubs and/or scrapes should dot this intersection. This is probably a morning sit.. but could go either way. If its too far from the acorns.. I'd advise to leave this area and get closer to them. But this area should serve well as the breeding season begins.

I would set up in between where you seen him that morning and the bean field, right on the corner, maybe 20 yards in. He obviously would be moving from where you seen him in the morning towards that bean field for some evening chow, maybe there is a bedding area in between, if there is one near that corner, that's where I would be.

Guys....they've been off the beans here for weeks. They're feeding on acorns, now. He's not using the bean field to feed (that I know of).
I like your pinch points, Duke.....but wonder why (if they're off the beans) he'd have a need to come that far south. I think that would have been a stellar stand a month ago.
And you mentioned morning sit. Why? I think his bed id due west of the pond. It's a central point to where I'm seeing him....and no one is hunting over there this year. Makes sense, to me.
Mike....I'm MORE interested in why you like this for an AM hunt. Intrigued.
Thanks!
And thanks Gri22....for the map/PM.

I'd get set up in that pinch point, invite 3 or 4 friends from PA to come down. Send them around and have them come in from the other direction and spook him to you. LOL Oh wait, you just did that last week. LOL
