I'm actually thinking they'll both score.....if they're not picky.
I draw the line in the sand, for my "shoot/don't shoot"......at "female"......lol If they do the same.....I think they'll both have shot opportunities. I saw seven last night....hunting the outskirts of my prime area. The "best" spot hasn't been touched since before our closer, last season. They have strict instructions::D 1. Have fun. 2. See directive above RE: "line in the sand" tx: They could NOT have picked a better weather event to come on. It's gonna be PERFECT as far as early NC seasons go. Highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. Wind is even working out for the spots I wanna go into. Perfect.;) p.s. - Just remember....if we take harvest photos and post them....Matt is 9'3".;) |

I had two fawns in range, last night. That's why I posted the coloration thread. I could tell by their coloration that they were this year's deer. I came to full draw on one.....and let down. I hadn't checked for buttons....and they both appeared to be does.By the time I could getbinos on them.....they were behind a tree limb (overhanging branch). So they walked. I got out RIGHT behind a weather system...and actually walked to my stand in the rain. It ended before I got up. It was 3:50 when I got set up. I saw my first deer at 4:00. Two more at 5:00 (the ones I had in range).....then a few more at a distance. It had rained all night and day.......and I never heard them. They were at 22yds before I saw them, and never got closer. p.s. - I'm not above blurting an "OH ****!" if I happen to be filming the wrong deer getting shot.[8D] |

Not sure what Rob's gonna shoot? ;):D Nah I predict I need to get my butt finished packing, redo my sight pin that I just broke an hr ago shooting with Tim. dry some clothes, and gather the rest of my gear. Rob rolls in around 11 and I'll be pushing it to be done by then if I keep screwing around on here. :eek: |

I predict one hell of a good time regardless of what happens and that said, there will be film and photos to show, not sure of what yet but there will be!
I'm packed, not the truck but I am. Ben just left, we did some tweaking on his 101, man what a tack driver. I put some broadheads together, quivers on the bows and they are set. I have to load the truck and be on my way within the next hour or so to make Matt's by midnight. Then in the morning it's a shorter run to Jeffs. I"ll see you boys/and girls, oh and you too Germ tomorrow evening late with a report. :D And buckeye finished second behind me, ya'll remember that. Need I show him my rock again. He may have forgot that since my 1st place stone isn't in my avatar anymore. Swing and miss, that was just mean. :D [8D] |

...let me add one thing to that part where you broke your sight today...[:@]I think your neighbor lady hates you if you know what I mean![&:] I may have said a very bad word REALLY REALLY loud when I snapped that sight fiber........a word no girl or woman wants to hear.[:o] So of course my 60yr old neighbor lady had to be pulling weeds next door at that exact moment. Jeff when you film, a bleat will suffice, this time;)[8D] A buck, Matt? Et tu? I hope you SEE "A" buck, here.....lol. Fire away!:) With the exception of the wind prediction for tomorrow AM.....I tell ya it could not be playing out more perfectly. I've got some double trees picked out to film from......and the lone hunter's tree is in proximity that we'll all bear witness if a deer is taken. I may not be able to get good audio on the second shooter.....but we'll have anything taken on film, hopefully. I'm excited for these guys. It's their first sits.....and I know they must be anxious. Today we'll hunt a woodlot I've never hunted for deer....but the sign is there (LOTS of scat). It's a little woodlot that they must be using to stage in, before heading to the beans (I'll post up an aerial). Like I said.....if either scores....we'll most likely get it on film. It's gonna be cool for me....not taking a bow to the woods to deer hunt. Hard to explain. Here's the plan, today. We'll keep you posted of the next hunt.....depending on the forecasted wind. Good luck guys. I couldn't help but be incredibly envious of Rob last night as he was gathering the last few things and making sure everything was set to go. I just kept shaking my head and saying "I can't believe you get to hunt tomorrow night." Lucky duck. Here I sit at work, more than a full two weeks out from hunting. I hope all goes well. I predict exactly what Matt said 3 does 1 buck, I don't know who will do it, but it will be a great story. Be safe fellas, both in hunting and in travel. Keep us posted.

Matt and I rolled in here about 1:30. Not a bad ride, about 6 hours from Matt's.
We've settled in, snacked and shot. We're ready to clean up for our first hunt of 08. I'm so looking forward to sitting in a tree. We decided now, Jeff will sit with Matt and film him. I've taken several deer on video, Matt hasn't so we'll see how that take places. We figured Matt will hunt with Jeff in the morning as well but after that, he better have one down or I'm taking my camera man. Will check back after dark when the cold ones are opened. :D ;) Be Good girls, you too Davidmil. |

Update. We saw 5 tonight. No shots. The last 2 caught me standing to glass one in the bean field just off the field edge where we were. I never heard them come in, never saw them under the dark canopy. It was growing dark. Of course Jeff and Matt bust on me for spooking them. I pulled a jmbuckhunter. ;) Sorry John. :D Tomorrow we're optimistic. |
