I actually joined a team to put pressure on myself..i practiced some more today for that one shot..from my stand..my shot is on...
I hope I can help the team this year and put venison in the freezer.

Nope!!! Last year was my first year with a bow. I had a nice6pt come 17 yards from me, well lets just say I moved to much so no deer for me. Same thing happened on a doe too[:@]. But not this year!!! I have spent all summer geting better,i.e. I can pull my bow back without moving much.

Two years ago I put my stand in a pine tree..I wasn't really expecting anything but I found this certain place where I had seen 2 beautiful bucks come out the day before..I saw it as a sign from God and gave a quick scout and set up ..The next morning at 7:30AM..I saw a doe walking toward me .She was eatting acorns off the ground.
1st mistake ..my bow was hanging up on a hook. I was hoping she would give me time to get my bow and nock an arrow..I grabbed the bow ..nocked an arrow..and now she is 15 yds directly in front of me..I fastened the release on the string loop and she looked right at me..I froze..She smelled..she snorted loudly and she vanished..[&o]
By the way this is another good spot I will be trying...it's a funnel spot with oaks and wet thick marsh

Last year was my first year. I shot a doe early in the season. As soon as rifle season started, I swtiched to rifle. Unlike many of the bow hunters on this site, I still prefer gun hunting over bow. Getting one with a bow was great, but not any more exciting than with a gun IMO.
Today was opening day of Bow in NC. I sat in my stand from 530 til dark and didn't see a thing. I hope to get one with a Bow before rifle season this year.
