I always thought clumped up just meant they were bedded.

I would like to know the truth too. Maybe we should talk to a deer farmer. Or we could always rangle a doe and a buck and then put poop bags on them...... but how would we collect them afterwards. I guess we could always wait for the deer with a diaper on.[8D]

GMMAT- depends if they are eating alot of corn....

I don't believe you can tell the difference between a buck's poop or doe's poop. Maybe the different variations of poop is determined by their diet? I've also heard that when it is clumped they have been bedded down awhile.
I have always been told that clumped means buck. To compliment that, I have always found clumped near areas of high buck sign and activity. Maybe its not 100%
Calling BULL **** on this one.

There actually is a way to tell, you see the deer that is depositing it! ! ! ! !

I read an article DR James Kroll wrote about deer droppings a while back. He stated in it that there is no way of telling whether the droppings came from a doe or buck. He stated that diet played a big role in the consistency of the poop and whether they were beded or up moving around. I doubt that any of us has put much time in to studing deer crap, so i reckon i will just have to take him at his word. lol

I think all deer crap is the same just depends on how long the deer has been laying or standing in one spot. Just like human crap, its all the same!

only thing you can tell about that is from turkeys.....J-shaped droppings are hens and straight ones are males......good way to remember that (according to my college professor) was a guy gets an erection and its straight...............stupid I know, but I never forgot. Had something to do with the internal organs.

Buck or doe, I don’t care. But it sure does hit the spot to grab a handful for a mid-afternoon snack. Just like eating popcorn.
