Gotta remember the "fawn dying call" if I ever get the chance to hunt bear. Congrats!

I used a fawn bleat call. In the 4 days, I called in 8 different does

Nice bear partner..got some questions about the fawn bleat..

1. How often did you call?
2. What company made the call?

The reason..is that I hunt in a very toughWMA where calling is about the only way to get the deer to move..I pick everyones brains on calling.

Chuck, I have found that the deer go crazy with a very aggressive call (as well as bear). I have a fawn bleat call but I have found that my cow elk call (the plastic ones with the rubber band for a reed) works just as well and doesn't hurt my teeth like my bleat call does. I can make it sound like a dying fawn by blowing it differently than when trying to sound like an elk. All of my calling for deer has been for mule deer so I don't know how it would work for WTs. If you guys want to watch an exciting video on calling bears, try the "Calling all Bears" by Wayne Carlton. My bear came in exactly asthey doin the video.

I appreciate the feedback..where I hunt only a few pros get deer every year...80% strike out year after year..I pick the other 20% of the hunter's heads.THey have all told me..if they forget their calls they go home..Calls are a must here..andour deer are very smart..you don''t want to over call for sure..

I think in September a little gruntor fawn bleat may be about it..We usually call once about every 20 minutes..my favorite call is the Can but I only use it during the rut..

Congrats. That pic makes the bear look huge. That does sound like a very exciting hunt. He will make a beautiful rug.
