Default Gold Tip arrow question.

I have used Gold Tip arrows for years now. I currently use XT 5575's for my hunting arrows. The other day, I picked up a half a dozen brand new shafts at an auction and I was wondering if I could use them for deer hunting or not. They are Gold Tip Ultra lite's. They don't have a number that I'm used to, like 5575 or 3555 they just say Series 22 on them. Are these shafts tough enough for hunting, or is this just a target arrow?

Thanks!

They will work for hunting. They are a pretty versatile arrow, can be used for both. I use them for 3D, but know of others that have killed lots of deer with them.

You can check GT's website for any info you need. They are a 300 spine which is much stiffer than the 5575 (400). However, as Rick says they are pretty verstile. I am using them for hunting at 27" and 45# and they fly incredibly well. Of course they shot well at 58# last year as well.

Don't let the term ultralite anravel you. Arrows are arrows. Some have thicker walls than others and some have larger diameter than others. That doesn't mean that one is better than another. It's just how spine ratings are contrived and arrow weight determined. Just because the 22 series is 22/64" and thin walled just means it's faster than a similar shaft with thicker walls. It does not mean it can't be used for hunting.

Great arrow!! I have some setup to hunt with this year. I was playing with them and some Gold tip CAAs. The ultra lights may win out. Get them fletched up and see where they are hitting. You should be a bit lighter. Your 5575s are 8.2 grains/inch. Your new ultralights are around 7.5/grains per inch.
