RE: Standing vs. sitting

With the length of my bow it is tough to shoot downward and sit. I pretty much have to stand especially for in close shots. But I do practice shooting while at ground level sitting and kneeling.

I'm pretty much 50-50 on stting and standing while in an elevated stand.

RE: Standing vs. sitting

if the deer is pretty close to your tree,or off to one side or the other it can present problems for a seated shooter. the treestand hunters mantra is "bend at the waist",kind of tough to do while sitting!! can result in the lower bow limb hitting your knee before or at the shot,TROUBLE!!! I agree with ben/pa,stand as long as you can stand it.sit only for short breaks but never during the "golden hour".

RE: Standing vs. sitting

I typically sit much more than stand. If I'm in a hang on then I shoot sitting down. Out of a ladder or anything with side rails I stand "when the time is right"...

If I'm standing when a deer comes around, I'll stand. While sitting, I'll stay sitting.

RE: Standing vs. sitting

I would have to guess that its due to a lack in practice of shooting while sitting, but i just can't imagine being able to hold my draw comfortably while sitting... Were most of you comfortable sitting and shooting when you first tried it?
