Why do some of you even hunt?

I can only take one deer per year.
This inculdes both whitetail and mule deer.
Also available to me in the fall are bear, cougar, turkey, and elk.
I have plenty to hunt.
While I would definitely enjoy a more liberal bag limit, I don't hunt to kill. As Kyle said, I hunt because its in my blood. I hunt to push myself to my limits. I hunt for the solitude. I hunt for the time it gives me with my father. I hunt to learn more about myself. I hunt because its my God given right.
If it ever came to a point where I was going out simply because I wanted to kill something, that'd be the day I'd give it up.

I enjoy being outdoors also, but as a hunter I want the opportunity to get something. I think a lot of guys might be lying to some degree if they say it's not about getting something. We all want to get something or we wouldn't be out there.
Oh well, if you're content with the constraints your state has placed on you who am I to argue? However, as a true hunter I'm glad I don't have to face that garbage.

This topic is always interesting......because most times people will defend what they have.....what they're used to.....what they know (even though, given the choice, most would like to see it changed, some). I think it's human nature.
What I do find is......I don't hear too many guys in one tag whitetail states saying they're completely happy about it. Most say they woud like to have more tags. Again.....if I'm in my tree with my bow......I like knowing IF I want to take a deer....I can.....ANY TIME I WANT TO.
The beauty of this is, in reality.........we who hunt states with liberal bag limits "can" hunt like you guy sin one tag states do.....if we "choose" to. Can't say the same, for you....and that's not maliciously said. It's just a fact. Now would that (hunting like you're in a one tag state) change the outlook on your season? Change the way you hunt? Might you find that MORE enjoyable? All good questions. I'm just not ready to find out....lol
I hope all my friends take deer here this year......and I take fewer than the last 2 years. Hunting is definitely NOT "just" about killing. But the kill is definitely a part of hunting.
Much to be said to each's approach. I'd askthe multiple tag guys if they would hunt differently if they knew they only got one tag. I know I would.

), I could legally take 312 deer in Tennessee. If I were only allowed to take one deer, you can bet it would change the way I hunt, but you can also bet that I'd still be out there. It's not just who I am, it's what I am.

You know alot of you will find this very funny. I've never shot a deer ever. I've been bowhunting for 25 years, since I was 12. I would love to shoot one, but if I don't it's ok too. I really enjoy getting out in the woods and just sitting and listening. You get to get away from everything, kids wife, job. It's nice.
Now with that said it's not going to be a good year to be a deer. Ofcourse I've said that every year, but this year I really mean it.
