Im going to say theres some truth to this. My friend was hunting on our property 2 years ago and shot a decent6 pointer. He didnt intentially shoot it in the neck, the buck tried to duck and turn and the arrow ended up making contact with the neck, severing the main artery. this buck went maybe 50 yards and dropped dead. he said it didnt run but maybe5 seconds and couldnt run any more and walked the rest of the way before it dropped right next to my car in the field. Would I recomend this shot, no, not to anyone. Does it happen, yes it does. Is it effective, yes.

shrew, you mentioned not knowing about shot placement in your original post. I'm just wondering if you had to attend bowhunter education in your state.

This is what happens when you make foolish shots.
Sack kick for the owner of this arrow

why are people saying it's ok to do it with a rifle?? It's never a good shot with any weapon!!!!!!!!

ORIGINAL: JESUS loves archers

I`m sure I`m not the only one here that has shot a deer in the neck.My grandpa raised my moms family on veni (most of which were shot at night and of course out of season) and he would only shoot a deer in the neck, and granted that was with a rifle but a broadhead makes a much bigger hole.
Unless you have found a way to get several thousand foot/lbs. of energy out of you're arrow, I'm not sure your comparison is legit. Not the best shot placement, regardless of the weapon.
