I am sick and tried of hearing about the poor farmer not going to make any money so we can't end baiting!! Grow a crop you can sell then like corn you can ship out!!!! Farmers were suriving long before baiting ever started. If you wouldtake a random 15 hunters just pick them I would bet you 10 of them wouldn't know a scrape from a rub what a deer run looks like and hunt a swamp or a pinch point what do you mean, I just poor out some corn and beets and apples and carrots and cameere deer andwheat and a minerale lick and deer cocaine and salt block and the deer just show up I can hunt any where because where ever I poor all this out I see deer!!!! That is Michigans attitude and 3/4 of the hunters if you want to call them hunters think!! Ok deep breath enough bitching nobody listens any ways!!!! Walt |

Walt  that really in my opinion are put in place to save a declining tradition and boost state revenues through taxes and increased hunters. it makes it attractive to people who watch on tv and see monsters but dont realize for every monster you see 100does forks and spikes. I cant say that im against using aids or baiting but i can say that i am against using an entire dump truck of beets to hunt over, it would be like shooting a bear at a trash dump. where is the sport in that, let alone the personal satisfaction of hunting. Most of us realize that hunting doesnt start opening day, it is a year round activity that we make time for.I know guys who spend time locatingdeer and have never put anything down and they get deer everyyear that they arehappy with and that is great. I also know guys who put downfood plots, minerals but also spend time looking for deer, know the woods they hunt in and do things to keep the deer theyfind. theyalso get deer they are happy with.then there are the guys i know who put down grossamounts of bait (sugar beets, molassess, carrots, and everyjug of goup they can get their hands on) that they put down one week before they go which is the first time they enteredthewoods since the season before and they get deer that they brag about, and compare to everyone else and show off (not that bragging about our quarry is bad cause i know if i spank a monster ill talk about it for months but ill also talk about my does, spikes forks and missed shots). Theyreallydont seem to have the same sense of accomplishment the others have, but then again they didnt accomplish anything because they didntinvest anything. I see a very simialar trend in hunting that happened in the poker world. Casinos had great games going everynight until the world series of poker was on tv , on the internet and magazines and books glamorized these college kids making 100,000 a night playing. Enter every poker expert in the world who thought poker in the real world was just like poker on tv, quality of games declined and things got really frustrating. |

I love it back home too, still go to hunt the gun season fora few days. I am really curious to see what a baiting ban would do to the hunting. Enforcement would be tough, given the number of COs we have though. Wow, deer with no bait and a 3-point rule, the miracles never cease!
